Coaching - Grades and Award
Level 1 Coach Award (Assistant Coach)
This is the basic level of coaching qualification, which gives outline knowledge of basketball, and enables the holder to introduce basketball, or assist a coach.
Level 2 Coach Award (Coach Award)
This is the standard level of coaching qualification for all club coaches working at local level. The award gives a general overview of all aspects of basketball, and a basic introduction to coaching techniques.
Level 3 Coach Award (Advance Coach)
This is the Advanced level of coaching qualification, and is suitable for coaches working with all standards of players, from beginners to good standard players.
Officiating - Grades and Award
Apprentice Referee
Qualified to officiate at school and recreational games. Apprentice Referees may be appointed to Cadet (under 16) and Junior (under 18) competitions under the auspices of a Regional Management Committee.
Level 2 Referee (old Grade 3)
Qualified to officiate at matches of Regional and Area level, Inter-Area matches, and both club and school matches.
Level 3 Referee (old Grade 2)
Qualified to officiate at matches of National Level, Regional league and Cup competitions, and to act as the umpire on Junior and Under 20 National League Games.
Level 4 Referee (old Grade 1)
Qualified to officiate in any match of Senior level.
Level 5 Referee (FIBA)
This grade is obtained by Grade 1 Referees who have been recommended by England Basketball, and successful when examined by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
Apprentice Table Official
Qualified to officiate at school and recreational games. Apprentice Table Officials may be appointed to Cadet (under 16) and Junior (under 18) competitions under the auspices of a Regional Management Committee or Area Association, at the discretion of the Regional Management Committee.
Level 2 Table Official (old NATO 2)
This is the basic practical award and is intended for table officials operating in Regional and local senior leagues and schools basketball.
Level 3 Table Official (old NATO 1)
